About EKR

Emily Richter is the founder of EKR Interior Design. She has over 20 years of experience as a designer practicing in Washington DC and North Carolina.

It is her breadth of experience that sets her apart. She has designed custom homes, hotels, office spaces, restaurants, and much more. She relies on facets from all of her experience for every project with a focus on capturing the essence of each client's wishes.

Emily gravitates toward modern, minimal designs that have touches of bold color and texture to create warm and livable spaces full of practical functionality.

Emily began life as an artist and traveler. It has been her love of the process of creation and hunger for new influence that drives her in her career. She took her love of art through college but ended with a BS in Interior Design from East Carolina University in 2002. After college, she spent 9 years in the DC area working for some of the nation's top firms such as OPX, before her move to Asheville in 2011. Here, she is a bespoke, one-woman show dedicated to her craft and living life to the fullest.
